SkyBox Studio 360 CountDown Challenge
Join the #SkyBox360 Challenge! Create a 360/VR Countdown Video using SkyBox Studio in After Effects and have a chance at winning over $6,500 in prizes. What is a CountDown Video? It is a numeric or graphic countdown before the action begins in a film or video. In 360/VR it’s crucial that the viewer orient themselves in 360 space at the beginning of a film or video. Your CountDown Video should show a unique way to do this. Can be a numeric countdown, like the intro to Nissan Drives LeMans (see below). Can incorporate live action, or can be graphics and text generated in After Effects. Be creative! Anything goes – you are helping to create a new film-making vocabulary for 360. There are great prizes to be won from our awesome sponsors, and you’ll create a 360 video for your portfolio.
The Challenge is Complete! Thanks for all your amazing entries!!
Winners announced Nov. 18, 2015. 😀

SkyBox 360 CountDown Challenge. This video was made using SkyBox Studio in After Effects. We imported (1920 x 1080) footage and made precomps with them, and placed them in the SkyBox Master composition. All the text layers in the SkyBox Master comp were in After Effects 3D space, so that we could manipulate them in (X, Y, Z) space. No 3rd party plugins were used.
How to enter:
1. Create your 360 CountDown Video in After Effects using SkyBox Studio. Can incorporate 360 footage, or be entirely created in After Effects.
2. Don’t have SkyBox Studio? Fill out this form to get a temporary license. Play nice – this is NOT for commercial work. License will expire at 11:59 on Nov. 11th, 2015.
3. Upload your finished video to youtube, Facebook, littlstar, MilkVR, vrideo, or another 360 host. Add a hashtag #SkyBox360 in the description
