How to Add a Lens Flare to Your 360 Video | SkyBox Studio V2

Lens flares are a familiar cinematic effect in 2D productions. How to use one with 360° footage? Charles Yeager (yeagerfilm.com) show a technique using SkyBox Studio V2 in After Effects. He integrates a lens flare onto 360 footage, as well as into a 360 space scene created with Element 3D.

Import your 360 footage into After Effects.

Create a new 1000 x 1000 comp.

Create a solid and apply optical flares effect.

Customize the flare.

Apply circle mask.

Feather mask.

Add flare comp to main 360 comp.

Apply SkyBox Project 2D to Comp.

Looking at Flare with SkyBox Viewer.

Add a Flare to a 3D Scene.

Parent Flare to a 3D Scene.

Move Flare Far Back in Scene.
