Free After Effects Project File - 64 Bit Multi-layered 3D Extrusion Using Our Product FreeForm.
I used animated displacement maps to achieve this effect. The effect itself was quite easy to do once the displacement maps were created, I simply applied Digieffects FreeForm AE, tweaked the dispalcement height and the material properties to get a metallic look to the surface. As easy as that :)
