2016 has been an exciting year for 360/VR, with many firsts for Mettle and our customers. It’s time to look back at this amazing year, full of many milestones. We extend heartfelt thanks to our customers, and look forward to offering you more in 2017!

The Daily 360

The New York Times introduces The Daily 360, a new way to experience their journalism.

Shark Week 2016

The annual week-long programming by Discovery VR introduces 360/VR content.

 

VRtually There

USA Today introduces VRtually There. A weekly 360 series that introduces a new advertising format, based on our plugins.

Georgia O’Keeffe 360

The Tate Modern’s Georgie O’Keefe 360 documentary, produced by Happy Finish, is their most viewed video ever.

INVISIBLE

A six-part mini-series directed by Doug Liman, is the first scripted narrative VR mini-series. Produced by 30 Ninjas.

BLINDSPOT 360

NBC premiered Blindspot Season 2 with a behind-the-scenes 360/VR video. Produced by RVLVR.

Conan 360

The First 360 Live-Stream on Prime Time, used SkyBox 360/VR Tools for text/graphics, and a custom coded SkyBox VR Player for the camera view through the Oculus RIFT. Produced by 30 Ninjas.

DreamWorks TV

Produces their first 360 video: “Mama Said” by Lukas Graham – Cover by Mackenzie Sol 360°/VR.

360 Humanitarian Efforts:

INTERRUPTURE is a powerful and moving documentary VR Film, directed by Jason Drakeford and Thomas Nybo.

Francis

Fugitives worked with the World Bank to produce Francis, a VR film that helped move mental health into a global priority.

Bangui l’Oublié

Triangulaire produced Bangui l’Oublié (Bangui the Forgotten) a fundraising 360/VR experience for Action Contre la Faim (ACF or Action Against Hunger).

Greenpeace

Produced their first 360/VR experience, A Journey to the Arctic, to raise awareness and protect the fragile ecosystem of the high Arctic.

In 2016, we went to events around the world, including: IBC, NAB Las Vegas, NAB NY, Siggraph, CopenX, Editor’s Retreat, VRLA, YouTube Space LA, YouTube Space NY, NYVR, Adobe Max, VRTO, Broadcast Asia, Amsterdam Supermeet, NYC Media Lab, Adobe Video World and USC. It was amazing to meet so many terrific people!

Mettle Skybox Suite has joined Adobe.

Mettle Skybox Suite of plugins will be exclusively available as part of your Creative Cloud membership through deep, native integration with Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC. Adobe Creative Cloud will offer an end to end experience for crafting rich and compelling VR/360 experiences.
